This small volume covers a diverse collection of topic about Mt. Graham. From the naming of the mountain to the many uses the local residents made of its verdant and cool glens and meadows. It is a picturesque retelling of many great tales.

This small volume has been regularly reproduced since 1988 because it presents a brief history of most of the school districts within the county from the earliest times. It is a wonderful reference for further research into the topic.

This is the Graham County Historical Society’s most sought after volume. Because of its wide variety of articles originally published by Ryder Ridgway in a column called Days and Ways published in the Graham County Courier, it has been used by researchers across the country. Most writers say that they start researching a topic of importance to Graham County by referring to Ryder Ridgway.

This Journal of the Graham County Historical Society is No. 9 of the series and was published to celebrate the Safford Centennial. A dedicated and active Publication Committee compiled photographs and vignettes of people and places that have made Safford the community it is today.

In this thin volume Betty Lee jumps right into the controversy surrounding the many possible locations of a “Red House” that was mentioned by Coronado chroniclers. Even more, it is just fun reading. People are wondering if any of their ancestors or relatives are mentioned as either perpetrators or victims. To find out about your own family you will ust have to buy a copy.

Eleanor Claridge’s monumental compilation and original history of the mining and ranching communities around Klondyke and Aravaipa is peppered with wonderful family histories and photographs. Often times, this is the only source about long-lost families and personalities that made that area so important to the history of Graham County.

This publication was prepared by the Graham County Historical Society for the 45th Arizona History Convention in 2004. It is an excellent street-by-street description of the major buildings and business in early Safford, Arizona.

Hal Herbert spent countless hours scanning more than 2,000 photographs in the Graham County Historical Society’s collection. He then selected the best 210 photos to be included in this volume. Every photo is accompanied by a description of the person, place, or event depicted. It is a very valuable contribution to the history of Graham County.

This monograph was the winner of the Arizona Historical Society’s Don Bufkin Award in 2004. It is a historic survey rediscovery of the old military road and a retelling of the story of it use by William L. Wardwell, a young “lunger” who sojourned west for his health. He did not lo9ng survive the journey but his diary offers some great information.

Myrna Hooper Curtis compiled this wonderful history of the community of Ft. Thomas that has survived from the earliest Apache threats to the modern era. Families, events, education and farming are recounted for the surrounding communities of Geronimo, Emery, and Ashurst.

This is Sharon Hinton’s telling of the Apache side of the Hinton family. If gives a wonderful insight into contemporary Apache life because of the cross-over cultures her family has developed over the years.

This volume was compiled by Verna Rae Colvin with the help of the Graham County Historical Society. It recounts the history of the people and events that evolved in the community of Eden, Arizona, north of the Gila River, between Ft. Thomas and Pima. It is a wonderful collection of family histories and photographs of that farming community.
